The Environmental Impact of Natural Gas
Natural gas is the cleanest of all the fossil fuels. Composed primarily of methane, the main products of the combustion of natural gas are carbon dioxide and water vapor, the same compounds we exhale when we breathe. Natural gas creates less greenhouse gas emissions than heating oil, or electricity generated from fossil fuels. By burning natural gas in the place of other fossil fuels, there are fewer harmful pollutants released into the atmosphere. A larger trust in natural gas can potentially reduce the emissions of many harmful greenhouse gases.
One strategy to help governments increase or decrease the reliance on Natural Gas
Gas will continue to play a crucial role in our generation mix for many years to come. Modeling by Government suggests significant new gas plant investment could be required by 2030.
